DESCRIPTION: Adolph Lange, Dresden, a scarce first quality, 2/3 plate keyless gold pocket watch, 20 jewels, stem wind and pin set gilt plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance and gold jewel settings in an 18 karat, yellow gold, reeded edge, engine turned hunting case, and Roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #5431, 50mm, 125.3g TW, c1870.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings; Band with flat spot; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on inner surface of case; Front cover with minor gap at band when closed; Front cover catch does not release fully when crown is depressed; Engine turning with moderate wear; Two hinge plugs absent; Bow replaced; Crown worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairline and small chip, edge, 3:00. HANDS: Mismatched. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches on plate; Ratchet wheel with spot of oxide and minor pitting. MOVEMENT PLATES: Plate screw replaced; Regulator with a few specks of oxide; Plate screw replaced; Balance endstone, setting and one screw replaced. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), low balance amplitude, needs service.
